Celebrate National Ride To Work Day on July 16th! ![]()
This day celebrates motor bike riders and raises awareness.
It seems like a great idea to raise awareness. Scooters and motorcycles would guzzle less fuel, so I wonder how easy these folks find their daily commute.
National Ride To Work Day is intended to demonstrate
- The number of motorcyclists to the general public and to politicians.
- That motorcyclists are from all occupations and all walks of life.
- That motorcyclists can reduce traffic and parking congestion in large cities.
- That motorcycles are for transportation as well as recreation.
- That motorcycling is a social good.
The Ride To Work Day site has a lot of useful information and the campaign seems well thought out and organized. A letter to mayors says
Studies have shown the public benefits of motorcycling and scootering include:
- Motorcycles and scooters share parking spaces, making more spaces for everyone else.
- Motorcycles and scooters consume significantly less resources per mile than automobiles.
- Motorcycles and scooters reduce traffic congestion and save travel time.
The site offers resources such as a motorcycle fact sheet, motorbike gallery and Q & A information. Motorcyclists would certainly have less fuel costs.
- Do you ride a scooter or motorcycle to work?
- Do you feel you are catered for by your area or work facilities?

Happy Ride to Work Day! I am very fortunate to telecommute but have noticed an increase in those riding motorcycles and scooters. If it were not for our winter weather, I would love to have one too. I do walk much more often to run errands - good for the body and the environment. If we all make small changes we can have a dramatic impact on the envrironnment.
