Ask Your Staff For Ideas
Don't forget your staff as a source of great ideas. They k
now your business often almost as well as you do.
Their knowledge bank and ideas could change your business in small ways or large.
Valuing Staff Input
Do you know what motivates your staff? Research shows that money is not always the number one factor in staff satisfaction. Many staff feel undervalued as they are not asked for input. This can be stressful for employees.
Some say they long ago gave up putting forward ideas, as they were just ignored. When staff share your goals and vision for the business, you have a wonderful resource to tap into.
Simple Ideas
Even simple, inexpensive ideas can often be effective. As teenagers, my friends who worked at KFC (Kentucky Fried Chicken in those days) were paid for any idea used by their manager to improve business at their workplace.
The company improved productivity. The staff felt a sense of ownership and a sense of working as a team. Make sure you thank them and let staff know you value their input.
- How do you seek or co-ordinate staff input?

Yvonne, you hit the nail on the head. If the staff doesn't know more than management about the day to day operation of a business, that business is in trouble. It's true staffers sometimes don't know what they know, but a manager can learn so much from listening to them.
