Fancy takeaways are the fastest rising meal of choice from restaurants and cafes as busy personal schedules take their toll on home-cooked meals

I can buy a large pizza for $4.95. I can barely make it for that, and it's ready within minutes. That's how most of us rationalize take out meals ("takeaways" in Australia). With busy lives, we deserve and need a break from cooking and the everyday routine.
In the end, we don't really need to justify it. We can just enjoy it, and that's what more and more people are doing. Gourmet takeout meals can be served at home for special occasions. If you want to go the whole way, you can even hire a personal chef.
Some apartments are built with no real kitchen at all - just a small nook for the basics - giving room over to living areas. Some people eat out at least once per day. Breakfast on the run at a local cafe is becoming more and more popular - almost the norm for many.
This all just goes to show a changing mindset, and balancing priorities and time. Restaurants are doing it tough, as costs and wages rise. Interestingly, the article indicates that this trend is not impacting on dining in, which also continues to grow.
