I first came across Stephen Pierce with his excellent, yet simple mindmapping technique for getting the most out of reading a business book. He is an engaging communicator.
This time round, he's talking about the success mindset, and how we set up our own barriers against success.

He gives the example of the Wright Brothers' persistence and perspective. Even though their 1903 flight was for only 12 seconds, their perspective was that they'd succeeeded and just needed to fine tune the process.
Stephen Pierce says if you've made some money before, that's evidence and proof that you can do it. What you need to do is fine tune.
He says that some people don't know what the path of success looks like and will "bail out". They know where they want to go, but don't know how to get there.
He uses the analogy of a caterpillar and a butterfly. We know what the cocoon is, but not what is happening exactly. The caterpillar is destined to be a butterfly.
Stephen Pierce proposes that this is the same with business people. He says
- some things come naturally
- others have to be learned or unlearned
- change can be uncomfortable because it is unfamiliar
We need to learn to embrace the unknown and unfamiliar to be successful.
