
While many companies are on Twitter, Zappos is making it part of their business brand.
Zappos has long been into social media, and is known for the effectiveness of the Zappos blog in building community and buzz. Now they've embraced Twitter, the microblogging phenomenon.
They actively encourage employees to Twitter and collate all Zappos Twitter mentions from non employees too. What a great way to gather useful information. More importantly, branding wise, they are hanging out where their customers hang out.
The hanging out extends into real life too, with using Twitter to invite people who follow Zappos to meet them for a drink in a given bar at a given time. Brilliant on so many levels.
They really know how to leverage social media, but they also know how to mix fun with business. Twitter is so highly regarded at Zappos, that they are running classes on using it for their employees.
