
When you first interviewed and employed your staff, you had some idea of what their strengths and experien
ce at that stage.
In everyday work situations, you can observe, especially in small businesses. There is no doubt, there is a link between staff motivation, satisfaction, decreased stress and productivity.
But do you really know your staff's strengths and what motivates them? Your business grows and so do your staff. It's great to let staff use their initiative, but are you harnessing all the strengths they could bring to your business?
Research shows that money, while definitely important, is not always the motivating factor for employees. Do you know what motivates your employees? This may differ from employee to employee.
Motivation Factors For Employees
Some employees may thrive on being given a leadership role in a particular project. It may also differ as time goes on. The employee who was reticent to take on a leadership role, may now be ready for the challenge,with guidance and support.
Flexibility to use their initiative in tasks and decision making may work for some. Yet others may need variety to keep them motivated and feeling valued.
