Small businesses find it hard to compete
against the giants. Many succeed through a superior product or a point of difference. I love the story of the little pizza store which drove McDonald's out of town.
Many customers do prefer to support their local independent bookstores, movie houses and coffee shops. To make it easy for them, you can now list your small business with Delocator.net.
In a cheeky jibe at Starbucks, the Delocator logo, bears an uncanny resemblance to that of the famed coffee franchise. To find an independent store, you just enter a zip code. This generates a list of non corporate cafes, movie theatres or bookstores. The corporate ones come up too, but in a separate column.
There is the option for the indie stores to add their logo. Interestingly, not many have taken advantage of this. Perhaps, they don't know they are listed. Not adding a logo seems like a missed opportunity.
The Delocator concept seems to be spreading as sites are now available for the UK and Canada as well.
How do you compete with large multinationals in your field?
