One way to increase your business profile and your own professional credibility is to write a business book.
Combined with other marketing techniques such as spea
king, and workshops, writing a business book can be a powerful tool. Somehow, if you have written a book on a topic, you are seen as an "expert".
Interviews, radio spots and maybe even television appearances can follow if you are proactive with seeking out free publicity.
Some authors self publish. Others go through mainstream publishers.
Here are some starting points for planning your business book
- Decide on your business book topic
- Research this to see what else is out there
- Find the competition and the gaps in the market.
- How can you do your business book differently?
- How can your business book stand out from the crowd?
- Is there a market for your business book?
- What is that market?
- What do you already know?
- What do you need to research further?
- Where will you source this information?
- Who can you interview?
- How can you promote your book?
- Will you self publish or query a mainstream publisher?
This is the first in an ongoing series. What else would you like to see covered?
- Have you written a business book or in the process of doing so?
- Please add your tips and cautions. Feel free to leave a link to your book so we can check it out.
