10 Excuses For Compulsive Email Checkerbutton%20email.pngs

Many people feel an urgent need to check emails right here right now. Here are 10 excuses to help them (us!) do just that.

Feel free to add more of your own in the comment thread. :)

I have to answer this email now because it could be...
1. urgent
2. from... (insert boss, colleague x, favorite customer etc)
3. an order
4. the answer I've been waiting on
5. personal email

PLUS
I can't keep this person waiting because he/she is
6.   too important to my business
7.   expecting me to reply straight away
8.   will think I'm inefficient/rude if I don't respond now
9.   may not be in if I leave it till later

and drum roll for the big one...
10.   I just want to clear this email and move on

If this sounds like you, and you're a compulsive email checker, you're not alone. Share your true confession at Emailaholics Anonymous
