It's my pleasure to host author, Robin Jay on her virtual tour of the blogosphere promoting her book The Art of The Business Lunch.

Based in Las Vegas, Jay calls herself the "Queen of The Business Lunch". She has a background as an advertising account executive, so she has plenty of business and people savvy.
Share The Meal & Close The Deal
Her motto is "Share the meal and close the deal." and the Art Of The Business Lunch gives you a strong grounding as to how to go about it.
The basic premise is the power of taking people out to do business over lunch. When you take people out of the traditional work environment, they are more likely to relax.
Food & Conversation - A Powerful Mix
When you add food and casual conversation to the mix, it changes the relationship in subtle ways. Subtle is the key here. You don't hit someone with a sales pitch midway through their entree. It's about timing and finesse.
This is about people skills, communication skills and putting people at ease. It's about building trust and relationships.
Etiquette
The Art Of The Business Lunch also covers etiquette, not just the table manners kind, but also business etiquette. There are even tips for those often awkward first meetings.
Jay is a natural storyteller and a professional speaker. She shares humorous anecdotes about etiquette faux pas as well as business lunch success stories.
Building Business Relationships
I found this book interesting reading. I enjoyed the insights into understanding how people tick and the subtle nuances involved in doing business over lunch.

Thanks for this one, Yvonne (found it via your tweet!)
When I was in the corporate world and doing a heck of a lot more business lunches, I really could have used a book like this. I could tell there were all of these subtle elements to the process, but I could never master them.
Good form, Yvonne (and Robin!)
