
I recently reviewed The Art Of The Business Lunch by Robin Jay.
One of the key takeaways was that getting to know someone over lunch creates a situation where people relax and reveal a little more of themselves. They build trust.
Talking to someone at lunch is not as contrived as an awkward first meeting in an office with a new client. Both of you open up and you get to know a little bit more about the person you are dealing with.
This can also be true of collaborative networking.

To me that is a lot like business blogging. People like to do business with people they know.
Underlying that is that people like to do business with people they feel they can trust.
Bloggers reveal a little of themselves each time they post and each time they interact with commenters and other bloggers. This can be scary for some small business owners.
Building Trust With A Business Blog
But if you are true to yourself, and provide consistently valuable content, you can aim to establish yourself as an authority in your niche. You will gain credibility and respect for yourself and your business brand.
This is a good basis for building trust with your customers, prospective customers, suppliers and possible partners. Trust grows as you deliver.
