Steve Forbes released the annual Forbes rich list. Interestingly, for the first time in 13 years, Bill Gates no longer tops the list. He is now at number 3.
King of the pack in 2008 is the Nebraska, Ohio based investor, Warren Buffet, one of 1125 billionaires globally.
Those on the billionaires list reflected a rise in entrepreneurs from India, Africa, Mexico, Russia and China. In fact, after the US, the most billionaires were from Russia.
The Cleveland Leader reports that
US billionaries were outnumbered by foreign billionaires 469 to 656.
Young entrepreneurs were also
on the increase.
Facebook's Mark Zuckenberg is the youngest ever self made billionaire according to Forbes magazine. The 23 year old social media entrepreneur's fortune is estimated by Forbes at $1.5 billion.
Forbes estimates there are just over 1000 billionaires globally. I expect with the rise of the internet, internet based communication and social media, there will be a rise in the number of young entrepreneurs who see opportunities which match their drive and skills in this arena.
I love to hear of any business person who made it, especially from humble beginnings.
- What does it take to be successful in business?
- Is money the only indicator?
