Happy International Earth Day

I was amazed to learn that International Earth Day dates from the 1970's.

The message appears to be one of addressing issues of the environment and peace. I heard Barry McGuire sing The Eve of Destruction last night. As he said, this 1960's protest song is even more relevant today.

So too is the environment message. Al Gore's documentary, An Inconvenient Truth seems to have brought the issuebutton_event.png to public attention, in a way that had not been achieved before.

Blog Action Day was a success with galvanizing awareness about the environment. This was a great example of the power of the blogosphere in spreading a message.

Blog Action Day was even picked up by the mainstream media. It showed the power of one and the power of many.

The power of one and the power of many is what International Earth Day is about too. For more information visit the International Earth Day site.

March seems to be a big month for special days. Leap year kicked us into March a day later than usual.

So far at Small Biz Mentor this month we've looked at
March 8th - International Women's Day
March 10th - International Day of Awesomeness

plus March - Unusual Holidays & Special Days

  • How will you celebrate International Earth Day in your small business?

  • Will your business be going green

National Chocolate Covered Raisin Day is a fun day I came across when researching Unusual Holidays & Special Days for March. I like this day almost as much as The International Day of Awesomeness we tipped our hat to earlier in... [Read More]

I believe that if we only vote for candidates that have an energy independence policy, many if not most of these problems will resolve themselves. We are addicted to paying tyrants and terrorist for oil. To keep or get this oil we fight costly wars that are environmentally destructive. If we use only domestic sources of energy the reduced transportation costs alone will save energy and the environment. The green and alternative technologies are 10 to 20 years away from wide scale use because of their inadequate availability and conversion efficiencies. But we have enough, nuclear, coal, oil and natural gas to go energy Independent now. All we have to do is follow the lead of other countries who have done it, Brazil, Denmark, France and Australia.
