Alex Scott at La Lanterna Italian Restaurant in Letchworth, England, had the Kitchen Nightmares reality TV treatment.
Unlike some chefs in past episodes, Alex was very open to learning. As he was losing over $2000 per week, he knew he had to turn his business around, and soon.
Anyone who signs up for Kitchen Nightmares or similar shows, knows what to expect.
Celebrity chef and host, Gordon Ramsay is confrontational, in part I suspect, because it makes good television
. He also has limited time to give the chef and staff a wake up call to change their ways, so there is a sense of "let's get moving pronto."
Alex told the St Albans & Harpenden Review
The biggest change was to simplify our menu and use fresh ingredients nothing frozen or pre-packed...
I always knew he would give me a hard time but I told myself whatever he says, do. He is one of the best chefs in the world...
A lot of people eat out in Hitchin but wouldn't think to come to Letchworth for a night out. This has put us on the map.
While it was hard, Alex Scott did the hard yards, followed the advice and cleared his debts. Importantly, he also felt rejuvenated and rediscovered his passion for food and cooking.
I was cheering for Alex. As in David & Goliath - The Little Bakery Who Drove McDonald's Out Of Town, good food, efficient work practices and good management is a good recipe for any successful small business.
Alex leaves us with a treat - his recipe for Chocolate Orange Truffle Cake With Cointreau Cream. Enjoy!

How Yummy! Thanks for this series and for sharing the link to the recipe.
