John Deere, the iconic brand associated with farm tractors, is adding denim jeans to its range. 

This is not surprising. Just as Harley Davidson owners love to collect and wear Harley branded clothing and other items, John Deere also has a loyal following.

There are people who collect and restore John Deere tractors, both miniatures and the real thing. Now they can wear the John Deer jeans too.

The core product will be jeans that are designed with durability and comfort for people who work the land.

This move builds on a strong business brand that already has a high recognition factor and for many, a nostalgia factor as well. Jeans are a product which fits in with the theme of John Deere's core business and reinforces its business branding.

This looks like savvy marketing.
