Many of us are familiar with the popular social media sites online today, such as Digg.com, Delicious.com, StumbleUpon.com, etc. These can be powerful resources to help find and disseminate interesting articles, blog posts, and news stories. One of the main areas in which these sites always seem to be lacking, however, is the business segment – very few social media sites provide adequate coverage for business-related sites. To solve this and help fill the void, a new social media site has been launched that is devoted to small businesses and mid-sized companies: bizSugar.com.
bizSugar was created so that “business owners, managers and entrepreneurs can now discover, share and vote for the best business tips, trends, news and
strategies on the Web.” The site is slick, modern, and free to use. It’s very easy to register and begin contributing and voting on articles immediately. bizSugar allows you to view articles chronologically, by category, by popularity (top vote-getters), and more.
One thing I particularly like are the variety of business categories that users can assign to the articles, from Customer Service to Marketing to Finance to Human Resources. This helps to better organize, identify, and find the appropriate articles a user may be seeking.
bizSugar also has a blog at blog.bizsugar.com that offers a more inside look at the company, the founders, and related press, giving access to the origins and the company behind bizSugar (DBH Communications), as well as other press tools. I hope they keep this blog active with updated bizSugar news.
In all, I recommend to join bizSugar and start contributing and participating. It is a new community with a lot of potential, specially catering to our niche of small business. It can be very interesting and fruitful for everyone involved.
