Do you work from home or have a home
based business?
I've expanded on some helpful reminders from Choregus about designing your office space for increased home office productivity.
Productivity
Productivity can be increased when you are more focused and organized, but this can be enhanced by clever design and better use of space.
Business Brand
If you have people visit your home office and it's dilapidated or unprofessional, it will reflect on your business brand. Depending on your business, another option may be to meet in a venue such as a coffee shop.
Noise & Ventilation
Noise in the background when people call or when you are meeting is distracting and often disconcerting. Do you have a private noise free, family free space to conduct face to face business? Are there ways you can make your equipment sound less noisy, by relocating printers, for example. Also think of ventilation.
The Outdoors
Fresh air, plants and natural light are all conducive to a healthy, pleasant work environment.
Separate Work And Home
Can you have a separate room for a home office? Do you work best by being able to take a break watching television, for example or doing some gardening?
Balance
There's a balance here as different things work for different people. Is it a break or does it break the flow and act as a time suction machine?
Home based business and home office productivity are all about balance in so many ways, including family, business, time, organization and space.

Great tips, especially about productivity and image! I think people work so much more efficiently when organized.
