How do you let customers know about changes in your store hours?
How do you communicate with customers?
Just in the last few weeks I've had the fol
lowing experiences with store opening hours. In all cases there were no opening hours displayed, or any signs of any type indicating changes to opening hours.
- visiting stores on vacation to find the store closed, and wondering when they open in the morning
- store door closed and the next door store owner advising the owner had "gone out the back"
- store displaying a "Closed" sign and no other information
- sign saying "Back soon."
- sign saying "Back in five minutes."
The store owners are relying on a lot of assumptions here. With no supporting information, these type of approaches only serve to frustrate the customer or potential customer.
They serve the store owner rather than being customer focused. Clearly advise changes in opening hours as a basic customer service and communication strategy.
