Wow! The inaugural annual Blog Action Day was quite something. It showed the power of one and the power of many. Bloggers all around the world blogged on October 15th to highlight just one issue - the environment. ![]()
Over 15 000 bloggers registered, but many more than that actually blogged, each with their own perspective on a common theme. Here at Know More Media, Blog Action Day featured at over 20 blogs including Small Biz Mentor, with Happy Blog Action Day! Al Gore, Kermit & Being Green.
The Blog Action Day vision went viral, and so did the message. Even the print media and magazines such as Wired ran with it.
And of course, some journalists are also bloggers, so the beat goes on. The Star Tribune article Scattering The Seeds of Change quotes Nora Paul -
It’s about solidarity,” he said. “If I didn’t sign up, who would take my place? An effort like this can’t be successful if I don’t do my part to make it successful.
And if one person out there reads an article today that makes them think twice...then my part mattered.
How Did Blog Action Day Come About?
Initially, 3 bloggers came up with the initial idea to do something that would make a difference.
They outline the process of how Blog Action Day came about and how they built momentum. This makes for an interesting reading from a business blog perspective too.
Blogging Trends & Business Blogging

Over To You
Do you have a business blog? Did you blog on Blog Action Day? What are your thoughts?

It's been about 3 1/2 months since Blog Action Day. It's hard to measure the impact, but I am seeing some of my friends in my industry blog more about "green" building materials.
I might be an odd bird, but I am a Minneapolis real estate agent who thinks that people should consider building their homes out of dirt.
Here's a post I wrote about the wonders of building with "cob." Please share it with your readers any way you wish. I would like to provoke some thinking about this idea.
