50 years ago, Russia launched Sputnik, a tiny satellite into orbit.
This was the start of the Space Race, and a major historical and technological milestone worldwide.![]()
Deputy Prime Minister Sergei Ivanov said, "Fifty years in cosmic terms is a mere instant and yet it fundamentally changed the nature of all humanity."
Significant achievements always inspire. They stretch the boundaries of what is possible. This is true in business too. I know people who saw Sputnik go overhead when they were young children.
They could not have imagined the future we have now. Did you think 10 years ago, you would be doing business the way you are doing it now, with global communications, smart phones or business blogging?
I collect old books. I have one which preceded the era of manned space flight. The author, obviously a man ahead of his time, said that "one day there may even be a man on the moon." Back when the book was written, that was science fiction. Now it is science fact.
It is exciting to think about the possibilities for the future, business wise too. What are you doing in your business to stretch your boundaries and extend your vision for what is possible?
