Menu Plan Monday: A New Feature!

As I've mentioned recently, I've begun finding all sorts of wonderful bloggers out there who are inspiring and teaching me day by day.  One of these women happens to be Laura of Org Junkie.  While I'm usually pretty good about getting things organized, and keeping them that way, this gal is more obsessed than me on a great day!  One of her inspiring efforts is Menu Plan Monday.

Well, who needs to be more organized and better prepared than the small- or home-based business owner?  Hello!  If you're an entrepreneurial type who wants to balance things better between work and family, or you want to save on the grocery budget (and your time) by getting things mapped out in advance, this is a great way to get started.

I actually asked my hubby to hang the white board from my old home office in the hallway by our kitchen.  I used it to take requests from the family from the Taste of Home Slow Cooker Recipes 2007 magazine I purchased last week, then I mapped out the menu for the week.  I sat down this evening and wrote up my grocery list for tomorrow, and I feel like I'm on a roll!  I've been dying to start using my Crock Pot more, and this is giving me the kick start I needed.

So here's my first attempt at MPM.  What's cookin' in your kitchen this week?  Leave me a comment with a link to your own Menu Plan Monday post if you have a blog, and don't forget to visit Laura's site to get ideas (for organizing or for menus; she even links to recipes!) and sign up on the Mr. Linky there.

Here's what's cooking at my house this week:

Monday: Teriyaki Chicken, peas, corn

Tuesday: Cube Steak, rice-stuffed tomatoes

Wednesday: Pork Chop Potato Dinner (Taste of Home Slow Cooker 2007 pg. 130)

Thursday: Leftovers/sandwiches

Friday: Make-Your-Own Pizza (Boboli crusts, pick your own toppings; the Little is looking forward to this one!)

Saturday: Busy Day Beef Stew (Taste of Home Slow Cooker 2007, pg. 90) & biscuits

Sunday: Minestrone Stew (Taste of Home Slow Cooker 2007, pg. 96) & cornbread

Hello! Thanks so much for joining in!!! I love that you are using your crockpot...I'd totally be lost without mine. I just purchased that Taste of Home cookbook as well but haven't tried the recipes you have posted. Let us know how they turn out!

Have a fantastic week!
Laura

Thanks for popping by, Laura! I'm really looking forward to participating in your Menu Plan Monday posts, and to using the Crock Pot more. I'll let you know how things turn out. They sound (and look!) so scrumptious in the Taste of Home book...we'll see how things go on MY end though. I've only used the CP a couple of times, and two of those were with pre-made meals. Wish me luck. LOL

Wow, you have a great week of meals planned. They all sound delicious! I know you and your family will enjoy!

Thanks, Jenna! Today was library day and I picked up some back issues of Taste of Home's Simple & Delicious magazine. I'm hoping they'll give me inspiration for NEXT week! :-)

Oooo! The rice stuffed tomatoes sound really good-we've already had dinner! Let us know how they work out!

Well, I thought I'd use the quinoa (pronounced KEEN-wha) I had in the cupboard instead. I made it with vegetable stock like they suggested...and frankly, folks, it stunk. As in "smelled disgusting". So that went down the disposal and we had green beans with our fresh tomato slices and cube steak instead. ;-)

What a great idea!! I soooo totally miss cooking!! My girlfriends have a WONDERFUL Crock Pot Recipe book if you want to use your crock pot more. I would love to, but am gone too long to leave it plugged in all that time emitting all those delicious smells with 4 carnivorous house cats lurking around! =P

A former co-worker turned me onto 'Taste of Home' years ago. It's a great magazine.

Kellie, you'll have to keep an eye on the Meal Plan Mondays and tell me any days you want to come to dinner! lol

Rona, I'm really enjoying it too. I picked up a couple of back issues of their Simple & Delicious magazine at the library and I'm hooked! I'll have to keep an eye out for more of their stuff. :-)

» Slow Cooking Thursday: Pork Chop Potato Dinner from Workerette
Thanks to Rona of Berry-Morin's Bits and Tips, I just found out about Slow Cooking Thursday, hosted by Sandra over at Diary of a SAHM.  Whether you're a Workerette juggling a job outside the home, an at-home mom, a work-at-home mom... [Read More]

LOL! Okie dokie, Mel! I'll keep checking the MPM! =) Bummer that I missed out on Cube Steak night...it's my all time FAVE meat! LMAO! =P
xo!!

I've joined in the fun too. I love this menu plan Monday idea!!! It really helps stay focused and not buy unnecessary groceries, which can get very expensive, not to mention wasteful.
