You Know You're a Work at Home Parent When...
  • you promise yourself a pedicure for a job well done and you get it that very night (by sitting on the side of the tub and soaking your feet in bubble bath while bathing your toddler).
  • you text your spouse just as he gets off work, begging him to stop at the store for chocolate (for you), fabric softener (for the laundry), Kibbles 'n Bits (for the dog) and tranquilizer darts (for the children).
  • the children get an extra half-hour of TV time because "Mommy's inspired and has to get this blog post out right now, before she forgets the whole bloody thing".
  • the local librarians have your website address memorized and actually give it out to other patrons...not because they have used your services, but because during your weekly "Library Day" you always clean up after your kids (thus delaying your own return home to the dog hair and the laundry).

What proved to you, once and for all, that you're a work-at-home parent?  Leave me a comment with your own funny (true or not) thoughts about family life and home businesses!  Need another chuckle?  Stop by another fun watercooler blog for a laugh or two.

Gee, tranquilizer darts! They sure didn't have those when my kid was little! *smile*

» March 2007 Blogtipping: 3 Know More Media Bloggers from BusinessBlogWire
I love Know More Media.  For over a year I've been blessed to be a part of it.  On this Blogtipping Day, I am going to do something I've never done before - blogtip three of my fellow Know More... [Read More]

You know you're a WAHP when ...

... your internet connection goes down, you have a client coming for a meeting AND it is the school holidays ... and you find yourself at MacDonald's with your client and your three children in order to use the MacD wifi hotspot. Children at one table, with muffins and crayons; client and me at another with laptop and notepad.

How unprofessional is that? Luckily, client saw the funny side - especially when we found out he hadn't brought his passwords etc, so we all had to retreat to HIS house ... me, my client and my three children. At least they had the treat of watching his SKY tv while we worked.

Oh MY, Lucy! Too funny. I wonder if I actually get MORE done in an environment like that though...my daughter is a huge McNugget addict. I might be able to actually make phone calls from McDs. Hmmmm. Time to reconsider the home office, eh?
Glad to hear it all worked out in the end. LOL

Oh now that is just too funny! I have to give a special thanks to Dan of WAHumor.com for sharing this blog post with us.

I've been digging around here all morning and all I can say is WOW! There's no way to take it all in during one visit so I subscribed and I WILL be back! I've also bookmarked the BIZZspotlight Submission Page so I can come back and fill out my submission and share it with all my community members. What an absolutely awesome service you offer! Kudos ... and many thanks!

This is a great place to test out new ideas. In fact, I could get some real nuggets here that I'm going to use right away!

Well i don't have yet a family on my own but often i wonder ho would i manage to get through this. This depends a lot of the husband. But yet i don't see this is a blaming situation for the wife who is so busy. It's better that she is busy working from home than somewhere else. And even if she works from home, and her kids are around ,they should all understand that work is work no mater what.

I work from home for this Office Space For Rent service, which is great, by the way, but I always have this problem with kids, and I lock up the TV set so they can't reach it. The problems are settled more rapidly than if I were away from home, though. These negative aspects have their reason, but if you are a balanced human being, you can't fail in both.
