Nonfiction writers will want to try for the Annie Dillard Award for Nonfiction. This contest is open to submissions of previously unpublished nonfiction essays on any topic and in any style, with an 8,000 word limit. There is a $15 entry fee, and the deadline isn't until March 15th. (Plenty of time, right?)
Fiction writers, go for the Tobias Wolff Award for Fiction. Your submission must be a previously unpublished short story (or novel excerpt) up to 8,000 words in length. The entry fee of $15 and deadline of 15 March apply to this contest as well.
Winners of these contests will receive $1,000 and publication in the Bellingham Review. Best of luck to you, writers!
