Meet & Greet: Rob Anderson of Blog of the Day (Part 1)

We've met plenty of established small business owners during Meet & Greets, and they've shared a lot of great insight and information with us here on SmallBizMentor.com.  Recently I was able to "meet" Rob Anderson, creator of BlogoftheDay.org, and learned that he's just recently gotten his business off the ground.  Rob's here for a cyber-interview today to share some of the challenges he's faced and some of his exciting ideas (including how he came to found Blog of the Day as well as where he plans to take it).

Be sure to visit his website daily.  You'll find lots of hand-picked resources (including Workerette.com, which was featured there and led to our networking opportunity).  If you'd like to get in touch with Rob regarding possible cross-promoting opportunities, drop him a line at Rob{at}BlogoftheDay.org.  And now, "Meet" Rob!

  • Please describe the business you operate or service(s) you provide to clients and customers.

I own and operate Blog of the Day, a website that is committed to finding great blogs in a variety of categories and sharing them with the public.  Out motto is, “Hand picked every day!” because we do not use some automated program to find blogs, but search through a great number of blogs to find one that we believe our viewers will find useful.

  • What was the inspiration or catalyst for the creation of your business endeavor?

Blog of the Day was born from a very simple idea.  There should be a service to allow people to view blogs in their interest group without having to delve through a myriad of search engine results and weed out the blogs to find one that suits their interests.  While browsing through blogs one day, I found that I was jumping from one category to another and didn’t have a resource to do a more narrowed search.  I looked for other sites that might help me in this cause, but I didn’t find any that were of particular use.  It was then that I decided to build it.  I am still in the process of developing the site, but I have a working model for now, and an archive of around 500 blogs that are categorized and confirmed by me.
