There's something in the air, and it's not just pollen (although I've felt the brunt of that this week, too). Seems like lots of folks are getting the urge to remodel, redecorate and rearrange. Someone even asked me a few days ago if I thought a savvy advertiser had started a special marketing campaign with the advent of spring, since all the folks around us were buzzing in and out of their hives to grab tools, paint and such from the local Home Depot hive.
While that may or may not be the case, I've sure got the urge to get out more (except for days like today, when the temperature has dipped down to the 50s from the mid-80s last week). Ready to change your environment? Here are some suggestions for shaking up your office or your working environment that may give you some feelings of fulfillment. Buzz, buzz!
- Want to revamp the home office but not sure where to start? D. Keith Robertson has a great blog entry over at Lifehacker about "The Ultimate Home Office". (Love the idea of keeping the trash can downstairs; maybe that's a way to get some more exercise into my own day!)
- Head outside. If you're working from home, consider setting up a secure wireless system, then you can tote your laptop outside and enjoy some sunshine while you work. Kinda like whistling while you work, but quieter.
- Hit the road, Jack (and Jill). If you don't have kids, or your Littles aren't school-aged, this is the time to head out on vacation. Don't wait til the end of June! Beat the crowds, have some family time, and map out Hot Spots before you leave so you or your family members can still perform work duties like usual. Ahhh, the joys of being an entrepreneur.
- Wondering how you can become more mobile so you can try out these concepts? Check out the Mobile Office Technology pages over at About.com. Guide Catherine Roseberry has recommendations for products along with tutorials for getting started with all that new gear. (And 10 ways to find a hot spot, too!)
