Floridians who read the Boca Raton News may have spotted this fun article about the three entrepreneurial founders of Unlimited Dog Tags. Teens Kyle, Colby and Kacie Grossman are all teens who have built a business thanks to a great idea and the encouragement of an involved parent. If you read this piece closely, you can see how running a small business or home-based business can create an educational bonding experience for both parents and kids.
After reading that the teens developed their idea after seeing photo etching technology in use at this year's Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, Nevada, I can't help but jump to two conclusions.
First of all, is dad Craig Grossman a small business owner himself? Sure sounds like he must be, if he's exhibited at CES in the past and is inspired to take his children to it to encourage them to follow in his footsteps.
Secondly, I wouldn't be surprised to learn that this family homeschools. After all, most kids can't just up and go to a convention like this without some red tape from the school unless timing is immaculate. NOT that public schooling families wouldn't bother to do such things; it's simply that many homeschooling families are entrepreneurial and lately, more entrepreneurs are choosing to homeschool. Why? For reasons such as the positive outcome directly reflected in this article!
(Side note here...if you want to book these entrepreneurs for an event, you can learn more at their website, UnlimitedDogTags.com. I couldn't resist looking them up. I may well have to give them a holler and find the answers to my questions. Any bets on the answers? And yes, I saw the note about high school graduation, but homeschoolers have those too! <grin>)
