I've got some interesting resources today for those of you who are considering buying into a franchise operation! Personally, I never realized how many opportunities there really are for folks considering this method of building a business. I'm learning a lot myself, and I hope you will too. If you're already a franchise owner, be sure to email me at Melonie{at}SmallBizMentor{dot}com so you can participate in a "Meet & Greet" feature sometime soon. I'd love to hear about your experiences in finding, financing and building up your franchise!
That said, let's get going on our first resource for Franchise Friday.
Did you know that Entrepreneur provides a free franchise consultation service in partnership with FranChoice, a leading franchise information company? If you go to their website, Franchise-Consultation.com, you can fill out a contact form to get in touch with a consultant who will help you narrow down the choices in franchises that may be most appropriate for your interests, passions, financial options, etc. There's also a self-test and plenty of information about choosing a franchise, the benefits of being a franchise owner and how to go about buying one (a franchise, y'all, not a franchise owner).
Bear in mind this free service is paid for by companies that offer franchise opportunities, so you'll still want to do your due diligence. Don't go off buying a business willy-nilly on one consultation...but do consider this as an effective way of narrowing down your choices and deciding if franchising is even right for you! My bet is that a consultation will help you decide where to start, based on your answers to their questions. At the very least, you'll walk away with more focused information to chew on.
