It's that time of year again...into my mailbox arrived the lovely pamphlet for the upcoming Maui Writers Conference and Writers Retreat. This is the "must-do" conference for writers, from what I've been told.
The retreat takes place from Sunday, 27 August to Friday, 1 September, with the conference itself beginning 1 September and ending Monday, 4 September. Retreat participants can attend an additional "Story Building Day for Retreaters" on the 26th as well, with the point being to "prepare you and your manuscript for the Retreat." (So basically, some of you lucky attendees get a retreat before you retreat. No fair!)
If you haven't yet attended the Maui Writers Conference it truly is one to put on your wish list, whether you are a writer, editor or publisher. A lot of excellent networking opportunities arise there, not even counting the agent/editor consultations. You never know who you might bump into.
(Don't forget to keep track of all your related expenses too; the trip may be deductible!)
Amen about this! I guess I'm a little late on this conference, but I'm so glad to see something like this happening on my favorite Hawaiian island, Maui! I hope they do it again in the future, in my favorite part of Maui, Kapalua.
