Entrepreneurs know how easy it is to become so involved in their business that it consumes all too many hours in a day and too many days of the week. How frequently do you find yourself working more than 8 hours a day from your home office, throwing in 10, 12, or even more hours of your time to create a successful venture? What about the seven-day work week? (I'm frequently guilty as charged on that one!)
This time last year I was sleeping four (or fewer) hours a night and working seven days a week. Over the past six months I was able to wean myself off the full day time clock too...and even began taking a few weekends off where possible. I've been slipping again lately, and realized it when I woke up one morning feeling totally overwhelmed and underinspired about the events planned for the day.
That's why this article over at the Sacramento Bee caught my eye. While it focuses on business owners who choose to close their businesses to observe the Sabbath, I believe it's important for those who own small- or home-based businesses to take a day of rest even if they are not a faith-based company or a devout member of a religion.
What could you do with your family if you set aside a day that was not focused entirely on work? What benefits could there be to your health if you got to go for a hike, mow the yard, walk the dog, or just sit quietly and relax? Guess there's only one way to find out!
Which day will you be resting this coming week?

Great post - life is just better when you regularly take a day to step back from work to be with your family.
