Anyone else still have the urge to do some sprucing up around the office? Or are you already done?
I've been tackling a room at a time here at my house, and am itching to get at my office. I've been taking some small steps here and there that have made me feel better, however, about not being able to put the office first and foremost. (Scrubbing my master bath shower took precedence, and I must say I'm glad!)
Need some suggestions and reminders for "the little things" in life that can make you feel like you're making some headway in the spring cleaning stint? Give some of these a shot next time you need to take a five minute keyboard break!
The following steps take literally minutes, but they'll brighten your day...they sure work for me!
- Plug in, light up, inhale! I recently tested out Method's new "air pills" and scented candles. Love 'em! I chose their Lavender + Lemon Grass scent for my upstairs hallway, which I have to walk through to enter my office. I enjoyed it so much that I treated myself to the same scent in a candle for my desk. Ever heard that lavender is calming and relaxing? I can't guarantee it'll work when your five-year-old is destroying block castles a few feet away (actually, I guarantee it doesn't for me!), but man, does it smell great in here!
- Ewww, is that your PHONE? Got a minute? Grab an antiseptic wipe and swipe the handsets of all the phones in your office...yes, that means your cell phone too. In fact, if you keep it in a holder or clip, pop it out and swab those off too. Trust me, it'll help with those lingering spring colds.
- Got a window with a view? It'll be much prettier if you spritz it down real fast with glass cleaner (yes, I recommend Method for that too...all their non-toxic cleaning supplies are green and lovely on the nose too). Or grab a Windex wipe and make the job even faster. Just remember it can be a meditation/relaxation tool. Wipe on, wipe off, to fiddle with Mr. Miyagi's phrase!
- While you're wiping...take a moment or two to clean off that grubby white board. And your desktop. Oo, oo, and the monitor too!
Don't you feel better already? I sure do. Let's break out the bottled water and celebrate! We've still got a few minutes left.
