I don't know about you, but I spend a lot of time in my home office. (Okay, I spend almost all of my working time in my home office!) As the days get longer and warmer, I think most of us get the urge to do some spring cleaning, especially those who are like me and actually enjoy cleaning and organizing.
There's something in the air this time of year, and you can make good use of it. We're all getting ready for tax prep time (or have recently completed it), so why not start by clearing out your old file cabinets? Get rid of the stuff you don't need (shred it and recycle the clippings), scan important paperwork and store it on CDs for emergency backups, and perform computer cleansings. (Yeah, I learned that one the hard way. Don't forget that this is the perfect time to eliminate excess when it comes to office supplies, unused machinery, and other such items. Local children's museums may be able to use scrap pieces of posterboard, tagboard, markers, and other such supplies. Give a Girl or Boy Scout troop a call and see if they need any gadgets or supplies too. Old books left over from a change of career fields? Donate them to the local library. Don't forget to neatly file your receipts for any donated items, so you're organized for next year!
