As you know, I'm all for being prepared for the worst. It's especially important (and easy!) for those of us who are operating small- or home-based businesses to get ready for disasters or just generally be prepared for anything that may come at us. After all, many small businesses are employing small numbers of individuals, or are owned and operated by sole proprietors. Those of us working from home can "kill two birds", so to speak, by preparing our entire environment, tackling both work and family preparedness in one fell swoop.
Today I found the website for the Institute for Business & Home Safety (IBHS) while looking for resources for creating a business recovery plan. Turns out they offer products and services both to insurance providers for their clients to use for disaster preparedness and also to individual business owners. Homeowners can also access articles of interest, such as home inspection checklists and the like.
If you're in the process of trying to create a business preparedness plan, this might be a resource worth checking out!
