I've always been torn over whether it's worth it to incorporate the super small or solopreneur's business. It's easy to be swayed by the thought of calling oneself the CEO of My Company Inc., isn't it? Then there are the ads in the business mags, especially those that focus on entrepreneurs, telling us we can protect ourselves and our assets while gaining all sorts of tax benefits and other goodies. Plus you can do it on the cheap...so it must be a good thing, right?
Not always. As this article over at Business Know How shows, there are both perks and perils to incorporation, especially for the sole proprietor or micro-business owner. Nolo.com has articles about incorporation and the products (both books and software) that can help you do it, if you decide it's the best step for your small business.
