I bought a copy of the February 2006 issue of Entrepreneur recently and finally got a chance to read it last night. I found several items that I found interesting and enlightening.
Those of you who are looking for ways to streamline your business practices to make things run a little more smoothly this year will be interested in the cover feature with 25 ways to simplify and focus your business. "Keep It Simple" by Chris Pentilla had a bunch of great tips, including one I've already mentioned here (filing taxes electronically). Pentilla breaks down the 25 tips into categories such as technology, money, management (love #13, "Rent a CFO"!), marketing, and personal time. (I am ALL for #23, "Create Boundaries". This is something every entrepreneur should do!)
A new monthly feature, "How to Sell on eBay" begins this issue. Author Janelle Elms is an eBay University instructor and online business consultant, and she provides some excellent ideas and some great anecdotes about starting an eBay business. Some of the comments smack a little bit of "isn't eBay just the best ever?" but frankly, that's to be expected in an article and publication specifically speaking to those who want to know about the next step for building a business...any business. (Disclaimer here: I don't have an eBay business at this time, and I don't know that I'll build one, so I come at eBay success stories from an angle of interested disdain from time to time. My apologies in advance if I'm not the first one to hop on the bandwagon, which now numbers 724,000 according to "a recent study" mentioned in the article.)
All jokes aside, Robert Kiyosaki has a great piece in here about Rambo and PeeWee Herman. I'm sure that conjures up an interesting mind picture, but in actuality the article is rather inspiring. Perfect way to end an informative issue this month, folks.
