As you know, continuing your education is vital to your success as a small business owner. Whether you are still in the planning stages for your very first entrepreneurial endeavor or are changing gears after years (or decades) in one field to a new opportunity, there is always going to be terminology to learn. Who knows, maybe you've been off the (job) market for a while and just want to play catch-up before you return to work.
Whatever your situation, I'm sure there's something new for you to learn. It's one of the fun parts, if you ask me! If you're looking for places to learn new terms or just want the definition of one vague concept, give these sites a shot:
- Information International's Small Business Advisor offers a glossary of general business and accounting terms.
- The American Marketing Association offers a huge (4,000+ entries!) dictionary of marketing terms.
- Inc. Magazine has archived articles that address media terms and accounting terms every businessperson should be familiar with.
- And for those of you with employees, the Society for Human Resource Management has an online glossary of human resources terms.
Now you know where to turn the next time an unfamiliar phrase crops up while you're networking with your new small- and home-based business colleagues!
