It's official: Today was Tuesday. Okay, so you already knew that. But you know, sometimes when you work from home, it's a little easy to lose track. As I mentioned last week, Tuesday is "library day" for me and the Kidling. Thankfully this week I was able to hit the stacks and grab a few more items of interest.
I've got one that already has me cracking up. If the title alone doesn't catch your eye, flipping through it sure will. Phil Dusenberry's Then We Set His Hair on Fire (Penguin, 2005) had me at, well, "hair on fire". The former chairman of BBDO North America worked with an incredible team to create slogans such as Visa's "It's Everywhere You Want to Be" and gobs of other phenomenal campaigns.
And then, of course, there was the Pepsi campaign. Think back, folks, and you may very well figure out the "hair on fire" context. My kiddo wasn't real thrilled when I started paging through this book and got to that part and started snorting and laughing at the dinner table.
Okay, so it probably wasn't the most attractive combination, but hey...read the description of a certain individual screaming because his glove is in a urinal and see if YOU can keep a straight face.
This is definitely one for the Small Biz Bookshelf. The style and tone are informative and fun and *hee hee* I'm still snorting and laughing. I just can't help it! It's not that I find the situation itself funny...who could? But the way it's presented. Oh goodness. Just read the book, you'll see what I mean. I found a couple of other interesting titles too, but I'll tell you about those when I'm done laughing.
Ow...my ribs.
