Where are you getting your tips and tricks of the trade when it comes to marketing your products or services? Large or small, every business needs a business plan, to include a marketing plan. Some of my favorite resources are Jay Conrad Levinson's titles, such as Guerrilla Publicity, Guerrilla Marketing (Third Edition), and Guerrilla Marketing for Free.
But we're not talking about incredibly powerful, incredibly hairy apes here...instead it's the incredibly powerful guerillas who use nontraditional and unconventional methods to achieve excellent results. In this case, growth of businesses through the use of said techniques. As you may already know, public relations and marketing are two very different bears, or, um, gorillas.
Levinson covers the bases in both places, and always teaches me something new, even after I've nodded along with what I already figured out. Turns out he's got quite the pile of resources available too, including a Guerrilla Marketing (TM) Association and 14 million copies of his books sold worldwide (Wow! There's a number for you writers!).
I suggest you pop on by Levinson's "Guerrilla Marketing" website if you're looking for some ideas to shake up your current marketing and PR efforts or if you're just starting out with your small- or home-based business plan. Either way, I'm betting you'll find something interesting.
Ape hair excluded.
